How to Set Custom Rest Timers Per Movement

Set different rest times for different lifts—like 3 minutes for heavy squats and 60 seconds for arm curls. You can set a global default, or press and hold any exercise timer directly in your workout to customize that movement.

How to do it

1

Turn On Rest Timer (Optional Default)

Where in the app: Settings ➔ Personal Profile ➔ Workout Rest Timer

In Settings, tap "Personal Profile" and turn on "Workout Rest Timer". You can choose a general default rest time (like 90 seconds).

2

Press and Hold the Timer Button

During your workout, locate the timer button on the exercise card (e.g. next to Barbell Squats). Press and hold your finger on the timer button for half a second until you feel a gentle vibration.

Tip: A quick tap starts or stops the timer; pressing and holding opens the movement settings.
3

Set Your Time for This Movement

A configuration screen appears. Pick the exact rest time you want for this specific exercise (like 3:00 for heavy compound lifts or 45 seconds for arms).

4

Save for This Routine or Everywhere

Choose whether this rest time applies only to this workout routine, or should be your default every time you perform this exercise.

Good to Know

  • Background Audio & Lock Screen: When the timer starts, you can lock your screen or listen to music. TwoLift gently lowers your audio 15 seconds before time is up and chimes when your rest is finished.
  • The rest timer is completely optional. If you prefer to rest by how you feel, leave it turned off for a quiet screen.
